My top 5 books of 2010, that kept me up all night.

My top 5 books of 2010, that kept me up all night are:

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

"Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?"

I loved this story of a young girl who happens to be the alpha of her young werewolf pack also know as Guardians. Calla is a strong young woman who loves being herself. I loved that about her. She knew her obligations to her family and pack but she knew there had to be something more. A great debut novel that I can't wait to read the sequel!

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

A nail biting, nightmare inducing conclusion to a trilogy that has taken over my life! I gave out The Hunger Games like candy because it was such an amazing read. Mockingjay is a tragic but heroic book I couldn't put down! I took it to work and every one who saw me reading it asked me if I was ok? I had such a look of horror on my face that they thought something must be wrong? Just a beautifully tragic ending to an epic trilogy. No other book has caused such a reaction from me. The Hunger Games movie is in pre-production now.

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

"Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Miller. "
I took this book with me on my trip to St. Louis last fall and I loved it! Angels are kind of a new alternative to vamps and werewolves that I am enjoying! Crescendo is a fabulous sequel to Hush, Hush. I loved the mystery of this story. It kept me on the edge of my seat while traveling that I hardly noticed the long hours on the plane!

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
isbn#9780385738750

After surviving horrific conditions in the Maze, Thomas is entrapped, along with nineteen other boys, in a scientific experiment designed to observe their responses and gather data believed to be essential for the survival of the human race. This sequel kept me up all night! Every page I thought something really horrific would happen to my beloved glade boys that I couldn't possibly stop reading because I had to know what happened! Since it is a sequel in a trilogy, the ending left me speechless! It left me dazed and wanting. I kept running ideas over and over in my head about what this means "wicked is good"?

Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr

"Love, despair, and betrayal ignite the Fairy Courts, and in the final conflict, some will win . . . and some will lose everything."

I'm cheating a little here. This book does not come out till February of this year but the reason why I stayed up all night reading this is because I won the arc (advance reader copy) from the authors very own hands! Fan girl squeal! I met Melissa Marr at the Smart Chicks kick it tour last September. I answered her trivia question correctly and this book was the prize! So of course I had to read it all night till I passed out! I was so excited I had a permanent grin on my face for at least a week. This compelling conclusion to one of my favorite fairy series is AMAZING! Melissa is a genius at weaving her beautiful characters all together and drawing all her story lines into a seamless happy ending!
